AFC Bournemouth and Scottish giants Celtic have been linked together with quite a few transfer rumours this summer.

Celtic have been reportedly interested in striker Lys Mousset and have had an offer rejected according to various sources.

Meanwhile, both Celtic and AFC Bournemouth have been linked with a move for Motherwell midfielder David Turnbull.

Last summer AFC Bournemouth were also linked with Celtic left-back Kieran Tierney

So in recent history, in regards to transfer rumours at least, the two clubs have had close ties.

The latest falls to Asmir Begovic, with Celtic potentially offering the goalkeeper a potential route out of Dean Court.

The report comes via the Daily Star who in the same report has also linked Premier League rivals Watford with interest in the 32-year-old.

The tabloid wrote…

“Watford, former club Stoke, Celtic, Turkish outfit Fenerbache and Greek giants Olympiacos have all shown an interest in Begovic in the current window.”

Begovic’s days on the south coast are well and truly numbered having been dropped not once but twice during the course of 2019 during the second half of the Premier League campaign.

On both occasions, Artur Boruc stepped in and despite turning 40 this upcoming season, has signed a new one-year contract with the Cherries.

For the final two games of the season then 19-year-old Mark Travers was given an opportunity to impress whilst Begovic was given an extended holiday before the season had even come to a close.

Begovic told the newspaper…

“…I’ll be reporting back with the priority to prove to the boss I’m there to compete for the keeper’s shirt against Sheffield United on the opening weekend.

“We have no issues with each other. I respect Eddie Howe and his decisions. He’s the manager. I’m happy at Bournemouth. I have three years left on my contract. And nobody has told me officially I’m surplus to requirements…”

“…There’s been a lot of speculation. That’s the nature of the beast at this time with the window open…”

“…This is my 15th season here in England. If other opportunities arrive, I wouldn’t mind experiencing different things but for now, the focus is solely Bournemouth.”

Your say…

Does it smack of someone who throught he’d get offers from elsewhere only to find nobody is interested and now has no choice?

Decent enough keeper in there somewhere, but has to accept he’s no automatic pick and needs to be on top of his game to be good enough. – Join the conversation, click here.
