Well, that was an enjoyable evening at Dean Court tonight for the majority of the 11,243 crowd.

Three well-taken goals in the first half, starting with quick thinking from Tavernier with his freekick which was finished well by Evanilson, that will do him the world of good.

The second was from a shot from Cook that was turned into the net by Ouattara.

The third goal was brilliant work by Semenyo, turning a scoring into the far corner with his right peg.

Second-half Saints got a goal back, but the Cherries saw the game out to take all three points.

Two players who stood out for me tonight were those two of Cook with two assists and Ryan Christie was outstanding with his not stop running and very close to scoring in the second half.

Three goals. Three different goal scorers. Lots of decent chances.
Don’t forget that Evanilson got through one-on-one with Rammers in the second half and shot the ball straight at him. Delighted to see him get off the mark though, as were all of the players and staff!

We were comfortable in the second half and the Scummers’ goal was a scrappy affair in a cramped penalty box. No real blame to be placed on anybody and no clever play that outfoxed us. Never thought for a moment that they’d get another and if they did, I felt confident that we had another gear or two left in us to open up the gap again at will.

As comfortable a home victory against them as we’ve seen, I’d say.

Congratulations to the lads for getting the job done.
Also highly amused that Fraser did the sum total of nothing and got subbed at half time, but not before both Smithy and Cook had the opportunity to leave one on him

As mentioned previously, these are the sort of games we must be winning comfortably if we are looking to progress. Job done I’d say.

So our first home win of the season but I felt we played better vs Chelsea and Newcastle without the reward of 3 points.

The Saints have shown in patches this season they can be competitive in games and they had some promising attacks tonight but their defence was shocking tonight. I was worried when they pulled one back but we gradually re-asserted control. I was still nervous with 4 minutes of added time though given our past achievements but the fight gradually evaporated from them.

The defensive work stood out for me tonight with Cook and Christie giving their usual all and Senesi strong on his return.

Well, that was very very satisfying. I feel they surprised us with a change in tactics early on but we quickly weathered it, got a goal and they were shot as a team. From then on, for the rest of the first half, it was men against boys (they were the equivalent of pre-school kids in footballing terms) : )

Thanks, Ryan F for contributing to a Cherries win after all these years : )
The little fart stood out in his feebleness in a strong field of ineptitude : )
Some of the chants were a bit “near the knuckle” but we still joined in (except the “party” one) The c word one, I just change it to “Chump” : )

Poor as they were, we had some scintillating spells of football : )

A couple of moments made me smile, the crowd reaction to the train cancellation announcement, then the “You’ve got to walk through the forest” chant. Also liked the “same old Fraser always hiding” : )

Evanilson looked really good tonight as well as all the rest. The 3rd goal seemed to come from a spell where we were showboating. That’s how dominant we were : )

Not overly worried about the second half, we’ve got a Premier League match coming up on Saturday. It might not be a derby to them but that wasn’t a match between two Premier League teams first half : )

Good to see Rammer’s reception : ) – To join the conversation, click here.
