With three games of the 2021/22 Championship campaign remaining, AFC Bournemouth remains in the thick of a promotion battle.

With just over a week remaining of the regular season, the Cherries sit second, three points clear of Nottingham Forest with three matches remaining.

Those three fixtures come against play-off hopefuls Blackburn Rovers and Millwall, sandwiching the crucial Tuesday night game at Dean Court against Nottingham Forest.

This weekend’s fixtures between Blackburn Rovers and AFC Bournemouth and Swansea City versus Nottingham Forest will really set the stage for the showdown on Tuesday night.

It could be the difference between the Cherries clinching promotion to the Premier League, or slipping into the Championship play-offs.

AFC Bournemouth head coach Scott Parker told the Daily Echo

“We need to maintain where we are.

“We have another big game now in Blackburn away, then we play Forest and Millwall.

“I have always stated this season will be ups and downs and blips along the way. It’s going to be a tight remaining part of it.

“But it’s honestly irrelevant. We need to get better in certain areas – that was clear (Tuesday night).

“Then there’s other areas we need to keep pushing and going.”

A rousing finish very very nearly made up for a disappointing first hour. We stay second. Still in an automatic promotion spot.
And Forest? Three points behind. 9 points still to play for.

Our fate is still well in our own hands.

We are now at the point where we just have to do the business ourselves and not rely on others or on hypothetical points from games in hand. We’ve p***** 11 points out of a 14 point gap up the wall, no more of this ‘must not lose’ crap, we need to go at it from the off in our last 3 games and if we still manage to screw it up then at least we go out with a bang.

Again the Championship is going to be another exciting end to the season.

AFCB and Forest with 3 games to go now a difference of 3 points with both clubs having a 30 GD, fighting for the last automatic place.

The play-offs down to 9th place Middlesbrough who still have an outside chance of getting there.

This is why some fans prefer the Championship to a struggle in the Premier League. – Join the conversation, click here.
