AFC Bournemouth goalkeeper Artur Boruc has triggered an appearance related contract extension.
According to the Daily Echo, ‘Boruc is set to extend his stay with Cherries after triggering an appearance-related clause entitling him to a new deal’.
The 37 year old, who recently retired from international duty with Poland, was set to be out of contract during the summer.
But due to his 32 Premier League appearances thus far this season, playing 2,880 minutes and keeping 8 clean sheets, he is now set to remain at Dean Court for the 2017/18 campaign.
Boruc initially made the move to the Cherries in September 2014 and played a huge role in AFC Bournemouth’s promotion from the Championship to the Premier League. He kept 17 clean sheets and conceded 36 times in 39 appearances.
Boruc was only on the losing side five times during that season, including a League Cup quarter final defeat to Liverpool.
He signed permanently at the end of that season and played another key role, this time in helping AFC Bournemouth avoid relegation during their maiden season in the top flight of English football.
Boruc played 32 times, keeping 7 clean sheets.
Delighted boruc is staying, stepped up again after the West Brom error but we still need another top keeper with ramsdale as no 3. – Join the conversation here.
