Confirmation that AFC Bournemouth goalkeeper Artur Boruc would be staying on the south coast has come via the Polish international signing a new contract.

Towards the end of last season Boruc indicated that he intended to sign a contract extension with the Cherries this summer.

It had previously been reported that the Polish goalkeeper had triggered an appearance related clause in his contract entitling him to a new one year contract at Dean Court.

Following the final home game of the season against West Bromwich Albion, Boruc indicated that he would be signing a new deal at Dean Court posting on Instagram, accompanying a photo of his penalty save…

‘Last home game… Thanks for the support to all AFCB fans. See you next season’

That new one year contract has now been signed and announced.

AFC Bournemouth chief executive Neill Blake told

‘Artur was excellent for us during last season and we`re pleased to keep him on board for the coming Premier League campaign, A clause in Artur`s contract meant he would be staying for another year but we offered him a new contract after his performances last term…’

AFC Bournemouth manager Eddie Howe told the Daily Echo

‘…Artur was outstanding in our promotion season from the Championship and made some crucial saves and won us some crucial points last season.

“He was a huge presence behind the back four and his Premier League experience was absolutely vital for us at times last season…’

‘…In the Championship and Premier League, Artur has showed just how good he is…’

I think it’s good news. He showed fantastic quality in the season after a shaky period. More like that next season and we’ll do well.Join the conversation here.
