Big Game To Win For Either Bournemouth Or Watford

|

Written by billythekid

Following our FA Cup victory over Luton Town, taking the Cherries into the Fourth Round for the first time since January 2016, we have a home draw against Arsenal with whom we drew on Boxing Day in the Premier League.

Attention now turns back to the ‘bread and butter’ of the Premier League. Our next game is on Sunday at 2 pm at Dean Court against fellow strugglers Watford, this game is being shown on Sky TV.
Enrique Sanchez Flores who returned to the club on the 7th September 2019 had a short reign and left again on the first day of December. He was replaced by Nigel Pearson and he has had a good impact on a Watford side who were struggling and looking like certain relegation candidates. Pearson took over after Watford had lost their previous three Premier League games.

Since our last meeting with Watford at Vicarage Road back in October last year when Flores was their manager, Watford have had a bad run of results, losing to Chelsea (H), beating Norwich (A), losing to Burnley (H), Saints (A) and Leicester with temporary manager (A). Pearson takes over, draw with Palace (H), lose to Liverpool (A), beat Man U (H), draw Sheffield U (A), beat Villa and Wolves (H).

AFCB go into this game against Watford one place and one point above them. This game is an important game for both sides, the Cherries to get back to winning ways and Watford to keep up their recent good results under their new manager. AFCB have some important games coming up against teams just below or above them. On home and away form, AFCB and Watford are both in 19th place in the relevant tables. The last meeting at Dean Court ended in a 3-3 draw, all six goals coming in the first half.

Our record in the leagues at home against Watford, we have Won 21, Drawn 20 and Lost 12. In all competitions, AFCB have Won 38, Drawn 39 and Lost 39.

AFCB Team News
No news of any new injuries. Also no updates re player returns, we will probably only find out when the team news is announced.

AFCB Player To Watch
After his goal against Luton Town, we need to see Callum Wilson back on the goal trail again in the league, starting against Watford who are without Kabasele in the centre of their defence. But we need to ‘feed’ him like for the goal against Luton. Another player who may feature is Andrew Surman who had a good game against Luton. A player who works hard in midfield but not always noticed by the fans and will add experience.

Watford Team News
Christian Kabasele is suspended. On the injury front, they have Danny Wellbeck, thigh injury. Daryl Janmaat and Sebastian Prodl, knee injuries. Tom Cleverley, heel injury. Kiko Femenia, knock. Nathaniel Chalobah, groin injury. Possible returns, Will Hughes, a hip injury and Domingos Quina, cramp.

Watford Player To Watch
Troy Deeney been out injured for a good number of games, basically came back under a new manager and his team have had a decent run of results and he has scored his first 3 goals this season. Gerard Deulofeu leading scorer with 4 goals and 3 assists and Ismaila Sarr, attacking down both flanks will give our defenders problems.

Mike Dean is the referee. Stuart Atwell on VAR.

We had Dean earlier this season away at Watford.
