AFC Bournemouth goalkeeper Asmir Begovic believes that Cherries manager Eddie Howe can improve him as a player following his move from Premier League champions Chelsea.

Now 30 and an international for Bosnia-Herzegovina, Begovic is returning to Dean Court where he previously played in 2007 on loan from Portsmouth.

Under former manager Kevin Bond, Begovic made 9 appearances during his loan spell which ended following two costly errors away to Swindon Town and at home to Carlisle United.

He ended the season on loan with Yeovil, before another loan move with Ipswich.

Begovic was sold by Portsmouth to Stoke in 2010 for £3.25million, Begovic went on to make 160 appearances in the Premier League before a £8million move to Chelsea in 2015.

Begovic found himself as a back-up ‘keeper for Chelsea and made just 19 Premier League appearances for the Premier League leaders, with zero league appearances between May 2016 and April 2017.

Begovic told afcb.co.uk

‘…The project here is super exciting from the owner all the way down to the players and fanbase, it`s exciting where it can go…’

‘…(AFC Bournemouth manager Eddie Howe) didn`t have to sell it all that much, it`s there for everyone to see. The progression is clear and I`m excited to be pushing forward. Lots of good things are happening here.

‘The ultimate target is to stay in this division, you can never get too ahead of yourself and take things for granted. But we can also take the club to new levels…’

‘…Eddie Howe was a huge factor, he`s one of the best up and coming managers in the world of football. I want to learn from him and hopefully he can take me to another level, that`s part of the attraction…’

‘How will we line up against West Brom?

Begovic for sure will start as he will be No1 Defoe again has to be a starter.

It will be interesting to see what formation we go for this year, 442 has been the most effective for us when we needed to consolidate and pick up much needed points, I don’t think we will change from 442 Adam Smith says he is looking forward to playing with Stanislas on the right has been a fruitful tandem….if Stan stays fit! Which may suggest 442 is going to be preferred early season.’
