Hello Jeff. Hello Steve.

Judging by Mr. Sly’s comments today there seems to be some misunderstanding as to why there is a mistrust between the supporters and the board. Now, don’t take it personally Jeff and Steve, but to be frank, we don’t trust anyone. You see, we have had our faith abused a dozen times before. We have been fed false hopes, mis-truths, and bare faced lies for so long, that suspicion is our default setting. We simply cant believe that those at the top genuinely have the best interests of the club at heart, because many have said exactly the same thing, only to feck us over. Stanley Cohen came to the club proclaiming he wanted Premiership football. Peter Phillips came to power stating he would not sell the stadium. When he did, he threw such a wobbly that he blacklisted the old rednblack, the site that had done so much for the club in terms of backing his regime, and providing funds and advertisements for all his ill-thought-out money making schemes.

You see Jeff, the things that all these former chairmen had in common was the veil of secrecy they hung throughout the corridors of power. As you yourself have found out after the revelations that your ”investment” was really a loan. Yes, the reasons why this is the case make sense. That doesn’t really matter. What does matter, is that this fact did not come from you. Like it or not, Jeff and Steve, we are suspicious of you. We don’t like the fact that you claimed to have investors in the wings that never came forward. We don’t like that you, Jeff, ponced up to the back of the North Stand yelling ”who’s the daddy”. We don’t like that we were bottom of the table for two months, playing the worst kind of football imaginable, and yet the manager apparently came under no pressure. We don’t like how you claim to have been in negotiations with interested parties for months, and leave us hanging for updates that never come. We now don’t like the reports in the local paper that some parties are being discouraged from bidding for the club because negotiations are so far advanced with another party. We don’t know that’s you, but we assume it is.

In short, Jeff and Steve, it does not really matter who you are. If Harry Redknapp came riding through the gates of Dean Court during half time tomorrow, there would still be fans suspicious of his motives, and would not trust him to be able to run a club’s finances, and he is the closet thing to a Messiah figure we have.

If you have had enough of people questioning your motives, then you are in the wrong business. You would be better investing in Poole Pirates. The thing you must understand is the amount we disagree on what you think we need to know, and what we think we should know. In potentially our darkest hour, we need a Winston Churchill to unite us, not a Neville Chamberlain, waving bits of paper around claiming it will all be alright when we can clearly see the enemy rising around us.

Please Jeff, please Steve, for the sake of your own sanity, let us in a bit. Then we might start to trust you.
