AFC Bournemouth goalkeeper Ryan Allsop has returned to Dean Court following a loan spell with Blackpool.
The now 25 year old joined the Cherries in January 2013 on a free transfer from Leyton Orient.
He broke into the side in March of that year, replacing Shwan Jalal and after defeat to Doncaster Rovers on his debut, the Cherries would go on to win 8 consecutive games clinching promotion from League One.
Allsop maintained his place as first choice as the Cherries began the 2013/14 season in the Championship, but after three months he lost his place to new signing Lee Camp.
Since that point he has only played a bit part role in AFC Bournemouth’s climb from the second tier into the Premier League.
The 2014/2015 promotion season Allsop spent on loan with League One Coventry City playing 27 times.
The 2015/16 season saw Allsop make his Premier League debut, replacing injured Adam Federici at half time against Everton.
However he spent the remainder of the season on loan with League Two sides Wycombe (18 appearances) and Portsmouth (2 play-off appearances).
Last season due to injuries to both Artur Boruc and Adam Federici he made his first Premier League start on the final day of the season at Leicester City.
However since the £8million signing of Asmir Begovic, Allsop has slipped further down the pecking order.
He made 23 appearances whilst on loan at Bloomfield Road, but following three consecutive defeats, whilst conceding seven goals, Allsop lost his place in the Blackpool side last month to Ben Williams.
Blackpool manager Gary Bowyer told blackpoolfc.co.uk…
‘I’d like to thank Ryan for his contribution this season and wish him all the very best for the future,’
To be number 3 or be sold? Federici is fit again so one must be going? – Join the conversation here.
