AFC Bournemouth defender Nathan Ake believes the Cherries are ‘heading in the right direction’.

Ake became the Cherries record signing over the summer, when he returned to the south coast from Premier League champions Chelsea.

He has since appeared in all 13 Premier League games for the Cherries thus far this season. Asmir Begovic and Charlie Daniels are the only other players who have started all of AFC Bournemouth’s Premier League games this campaign.

In recent weeks Howe has settled on a more frequent starting XI, with fewer unforced changes.

The Cherries started the season with four consecutive defeats, conceding 8 times.

The following four games saw the Cherries pick up four points, conceding 4.

Over the last five games, AFC Bournemouth have won 3, drawn once and lost once, conceding just twice and keeping three consecutive clean-sheets.

Ake told The Daily Echo

“We all knew the start to the season wasn`t great.

“We knew we had to step it up and we have during the past few games. We have played better and picked up points.

“Although the Swansea game wasn`t the best, we managed to get a point and that shows we are heading in the right direction.

“Hopefully, we can play better against Burnley on Wednesday and keep it going.”

Your Say…

This Lewis Cook issue remains one of the worlds biggest mysteries

…to us armchair critics.

Eddie will counter us critics by pointing out that his team selection for the last three games has resulted in seven points and three clean sheets. Its hard to argue with that no matter how frustrating it looks to us.

However the fact that we are winning and competing without Cook and Stanislas fills me with confidence that our best is still to come and more importantly we have strength in depth.
