AFC Bournemouth record signing Nathan Ake believes the Cherries defending has improved as the season has progressed.

Before the international break, AFC Bournemouth completed back to back away victories in the Premier League. Taking maximum points against Stoke City and Newcastle United.

That vital points haul lifted the Cherries out of the relegation zone.

Over the past five games, which included fixtures against Premier League champions Chelsea and runners-up Tottenham Hotspur, the Cherries have conceded just three times.

Ake told the Daily Echo

“I think we are defending much better.

“We are trying to block everything and we are throwing ourselves in front of goal.”

“The win (against Newcastle United) was big for us and the clean sheet was big as well.

“Cookie helped me being next to him, we had a good partnership and it worked well. As a whole defensive unit we did well.”

Does the International break help or hurt the Cherries?

I’d argue it hurts……would love to have continued the momentum from last weeks victory. Now we wait.
