AFC Bournemouth’s Chelsea loanee Nathan Ake believes the comeback victory over Liverpool will give the squad confidence.
The Cherries were 2-0 down before Ryan Fraser was felled for a penalty. Callum Wilson stepped up to score the Cherries opening goal of the game.
However Liverpool’s deserved third goal, reinstalled their two goal lead, something that they were well worth having dominated the first hour of the game.
But the Cherries heads didn’t drop and the final 16 minutes saw an incredible turnaround with goals from Ryan Fraser, Steve Cook and a stoppage time winner from Nathan Ake.
Ake told Sky Sports…
‘It was an incredible comeback, The first half they dominated us and we sat back too much.
‘We gave away two early goals but we came back strong in the second half. We pressed them and did well.
‘We just had to dig in and the gaffer at half-time said, ‘don’t drop and just go out and express yourself’.
‘This result gives us confidence, for sure, Liverpool have been doing well and we just need to keep going now.’
And starting to feel footie isn’t quite as important as it used to be.
Maybe getting a little complacent, I don’t know?
But oh what a feeling of exhilaration after the game, it makes one realise why we fell in love with the game and obviously my team.
