AFC Bournemouth manager Eddie Howe has a fair few key members of his squad unavailable for the visit of Premier League leaders and UEFA Champions League winners to Dean Court.

Right-back Adam Smith picked up an injury during the closing stages of the defeat to Crystal Palace on Tuesday and Howe has confirmed he will miss this game.

As to will centre back Steve Cook who missed that game with a wrist injury.

Harry Wilson is unavailable due to this match being against his parent club, loan players are not permitted to play against their parent club in the Premier League.

Joshua King remains sidelined with a hamstring injury which he suffered whilst away in international duty with Norway.

Longer-term absentees Junior Stanislas and David Brooks also remain unavailable, the former has recently returned to training, whilst the latter has suffered a setback in his rehabilitation and has had to see a specialist.

After these next two games, we have a run that goes:
Burnley, Arsenal, Brighton, West Ham, before the FA cup and no doubt wholesale change.

I would personally look at our list of ‘minor injuries’ and see if I could pick a squad for these next two that rests all of them, risk none. A.Smith, Cook, King etc. I want to make sure we can hit that above run of games with everything we have. If that, unfortunately, means making an upset against Liverpool/Chelsea even less likely, two defeats even more likely, so be it. Whether that storm. We won’t decide our season in these next two games. The 4 games after will be far more telling.

Perhaps something like

Ramsdale
Stacey Mepham Ake Rico
Gosling Lerma Billing
Solanke Wilson Danjuma

It’s funny but very few have commented on Billing and, in my opinion, his apparent downturn in performances… Now, this could be just because the team have been underperforming as a whole and I’m not necessarily singling him out… but of late, I think it is noteworthy that his movement and ‘lack of’ urgency/tackles has not helped, in a place where we desperately need someone to step up and grab the game.

This was noticeable with Wolves. The difference Lerma made when replacing him. I’ve never thought that Lerma and Billing are good midfield two. They need a third, a more creative player in there with them, but that then goes against Eddie’s favoured 4-4-2

So for me, I would perhaps opt for

———————–Ramsdale————————
——–Stacey —Mepham – Ake – Rico
————————-L.Cook————————-
——–Danjuma – Lerma – Gosling – Fraser———-
————————Solanke————————-

It is very hard to change it up too much due to our injuries and out of form players…

Something needs to alter and Liverpool is almost a bit of a free hit to see what happens. Lets face it, we can expect a reaction but no one expects us to win… – Join the conversation, click here.
