AFCB v Norwich City – Highlights & Reaction

|

AFC Bournemouth manager Eddie Howe told afcb.co.uk

“We started the game well and I was pleased with the first 15 to 20 minutes.

“I thought we played some really good football and looked like we had a good mentality to the game but it didn’t really get any better than that.

“We sort of faded away and stopped doing the things that had brought us that early dominance and then became quite desperate to score.

“In our desperation to score, we put a lot of aerial crosses into the box which never really suits us.

We’re much better when we’re a little more intricate and a little more patient so our desperation to score worked against us.”

Thought it was a shocker to be honest, more like a drab championship game.

Only things I can remember from the game are things I’d like to forget. Lee Mason is frustrating, honestly how these guys stay as our top officials is beyond me. Happy to push a throw in 1 metre back and then happy to let an injured player take the longest route off the pitch, stopping en route. He’s bizarre.

Can’t see how Ryan Fraser deserves to stay on the pitch for 90mins but then only had to look at the bench to see that defenders made up nearly 50% of the players on there.

Danjuma did ok when he came on and has to be given a full 90 to see what he can really offer us not just this season but also in the future.

Our attacking options are severely limited. Dominic Solanke is not Premier League standard regardless of the size of his heart or the fact he has a red and black shirt on, he’s not good enough leaving us Callum Wilson, who when not playing well, meaning we have no threat up front.

I think Eddie Howe got it wrong today. Harry Wilson moving to the right was a mistake. Dropping Joshua King was a mistake, Eddie Howe saying he had fatigue…what’s wrong with these players! King should’ve been banging the bosses door down to play.

We missed Jefferson Lerma, big time. Overall a 3/10 performance that was instantly forgettable. Norwich? Going down. Saw nothing today to think otherwise.

I thought we dominated for the first 20 minutes and looked quite lively.

Thought Fraser was making more effort, but his final ball was disappointing.

Diego Rico put in a couple of great crosses and Callum Wilson tried hard but didn’t get much service.

Adam Smith looked okay but every time he played a one-two with Harry Wilson it turned into a one as Wilson ignored his run and cut inside to midfield and then lost the ball.

Philip Billing looked good again and played a great cross-field pass, but he looked like he’d run out of steam a good 10 minutes before the end.

Generally, though it was all a bit blah. In the 2nd half, I thought they were far more likely to score than we were and they obviously thought so too. Would give most 6/10, maybe the defence 6.5. I can’t help feeling that if we’d been able to keep the same 11 as previous games we’d have won easily, but in all honesty, thought, in the end, we were lucky to get the point. These sort of games always seem to be a banana skin for Bournemouth. – Join the conversation, click here.
