AFC Bournemouth have released defender Tim Stephenson after his contract expired at the end of the year.

As part of the Youth Team donation scheme on this sites message board, Tim Stephenson became the first player to benefit from the sponsorship during the 2009/10 season and after turning professional he was also sponsored by AFCB Vital and The Friends of Pokesdown during the 2010/11 season.

Unfortunately the defender has been plagued by injuries, which limited him to just one appearance in the Cherries match day squad, when he was an unused substitute for the FA Cup tie at Notts County in December 2010.

During the summer he featured during pre-season and was handed a six month contract by manager Lee Bradbury, but Stephenson again suffered with injuries and the club have now decided to release him.

Stephenson will continue to be given treatment by the clubs staff.
