On Thursday evening AFC Bournemouth held a Sponsors and Investors road show.

Speaking to Up The Cherries, Cherries Chairman Jeff Mostyn spoke of how he would have liked to have launched this six months ago. But during that time he had been unable to do so, due to the financial predicament of the football club.

But now, the club is in somewhat of a better position. The club is obviously still in a perilous financial state, but the foundations are being rebuilt. With the CVA of the past 10 years now repaid.

New money was obviously the theme of the evening, with Jeff Mostyn and Steve Sly admitting that without help they cannot take this club any further.

Over the past couple of weeks the duo have invested another £250,000 into the football club to help pay the wages and without the pair, the clubs position would be very different.

But they need support and they are looking to the local community to offer that support.

Obviously a successful football club on the pitch would help the finances off of it, but even with the club sat bottom of the league, it was an evening where the people in attendance were reminded of how important this football club is to the local conurbation.

The great work of Football in the Community was shown, with 48 coaching sessions, helping 1,700 children between the ages of 4-16 every week.

The local economy benefits from a Football League Club in the town, with 18,000 extra visitors coming to support their clubs against the Cherries.

AFC Bournemouth has something to offer the community, but now is the time that the club is asking for a little support in continuing the work that it already does.

The club has targeted the figure of £1 million to be raised, to help secure the continuation of professional football in Bournemouth.

But has also posed the question, does the local community want the continuation of professional football in Bournemouth?

The supporters obviously do and have helped to save the club on a number of occasions, but now the club needs outside help and these Investors Road shows are just the first step in the clubs attempts to find that new support.
