Going forward AFC Bournemouth manager Eddie Howe needs to either accept that Jordon Ibe is not a defensively minded player, and just play him in a position where he can be effective purely from an attacking option, or move him on…

It is pointless trying to make a player into something he clearly is not, and cannot be. Ibe has had several years now, with Eddie trying to educate him and introduce him to different elements of the game… Ibe has only ever really been effective when played as part of front 3. Playing him wingback is obviously a recipe for failure…

To a degree Eddie did the same with Benik Afobe… When he came to us he was full of confidence and played with goals in his game, as a poacher and 6 yard box goal scorer… Eddie tried to get Afobe to sit deeper and link play, which clearly didn’t suit him and he drifted out of contention for large parts…

Some players are mouldable and others are not. It just depends on what you do with the ones that are not… Jordon knows where the goal is, can be dynamic and create things up top, and if you accept that is what his role is to be, coming off of the bench more often than starting, then great…

Your say…

I thought he had a good game when he came on against Manchester Unitd. Beat a few men and won a few corners. I was surprised by his energy levels when he came on aswell, – Join the conversation, click here.
